About Brooklyn Boulders Somerville

Brooklyn is where it all began in 2009, when we opened our doors in the old Daily News Garage. It’s more than just a city; it’s a state of mind. It’s about the creative clash of cultures that creates a diverse community, filled with passion and drive to make things happen.

We’re bringing Brooklyn to every city we go to – with facilities in New York, Chicago and Boston – spreading the #bkblove and that sense of community to other urban areas through rock climbing, fitness, art and events. At Brooklyn Boulders Somerville (BKB) you’ll find unconventional experiences that engage imagination, passion and physical potential. Our hope is that you leave here inspired.

“Some people need music for a workout boost or a personal trainer urging them to work harder. Scott Gilroy finds motivation by pushing his limits with other people, whether it’s with a partner in yoga or a group of 600 people doing sprints.”

Wall Street Journal

“Wouldn’t the workday be more fun if it occurred on top of a 22-foot-high climbing wall?”

Fast Company

“In the background, non-audience members continued to use BKB Somerville’s rock climbing and gym facilities like on any other day, prompting Palmer to give a shout-out to the people using the ellipticals on the second level.”

Boston Magazine

“In rock climbing, it’s all about making it to the top. And in business, it’s no different. At Brooklyn Boulders Somerville the two worlds collide”

“#1 in Cutting-Edge Coworking Spaces: If you’re the type of person who enjoys keeping active during the workday, then Brooklyn Boulders’ second location just outside Boston may be your dream come true.”

“The Adaptive Climbing Group is the brainchild of Kareemah Batts – she came around to the sport after a battle with cancer that cost her a part of a leg. She then found that she wanted to climb with other amputees and formed the group.”
