2014 has been an insane year of evolution and growth for Brooklyn Boulders.
We revamped the 30/45 wall. We got new, plushy mats all around the facility. We held our first climbing competition ever – Brooklyn Beatdown. We got brand spankin’ new fitness equipment. We hosted legendary founder of Brooklyn Brewery, Steve Hindy at our holiday party. We started a new exciting partnership with General Assembly and a collaborative adventure program with Homage Skateboard Academy. We hosted our first Open House, inviting children from local schools to experience climbing at Brooklyn Boulders. We introduced Ladies Night & Women Only Climbing classes. We added more community discount perks around the neighborhood. We sent team member Omer to Turkey for the Petzl Roctrip (video series coming soon). We added an enormous art piece near the front desk entitled “Brooklyn With Love” by our very own Caleb Freese. We got a new website with lots of awesome content coming your way about the BKB lifestyle.
We celebrated our 1st birthday at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville in August and five long years at the original Brooklyn Boulders in Gowanus with our High Five Party. And, we just had our Grand Opening for our newest community at Brooklyn Boulders Chicago.
Brooklyn Boulders is growing and expanding, and we’re going to keep relentlessly pursuing innovative ways to best serve our climbing community of passionate doers, dreamers, artists, musicians, writers, programmers, entrepreneurs, designers and more.
As we look forward to 2015, we can’t help but be incredibly grateful for the extraordinary year that has just passed. None of this exciting growth and evolution would be possible without you – our members and climbers that breathe life into our walls. We can’t wait for what’s next, and are stoked to have you with us.
