BKBDAY 10: Call for Creative Submissions!

Big news, BKB: We are turning TEN on September 9, 2019! For this year’s BKBDay party, we want to do something to include our community.

Big news, BKB: We are turning TEN on September 9, 2019! For this year’s BKBDay party, we want to do something to include our community.

Here’s the deal:

To help us commemorate a decade of arts, culture, and vertical adventures together, we’re calling on all creatives (e.g., artists, photographers, painters, designers, hand letterers, etc.) to help us cover our BKB walls with one-of-a-kind art. The theme? “TEN.” Check out the instructions below for more info.

Calling all creatives:

For our ten year milestone, we’ll be featuring select pieces of “ten” art in a permanent community installation in each facility (so yeah, your work will stick around for a while)! We’ll also be printing select designs into posters and stickers.

If your submission is chosen, you will receive:

  • Space on the installation in each BKB facility (Gowanus, Queensbridge, Somerville, and Chicago)
  • A printed piece framed for you to keep
  • Artist credit + features on social media
  • 2 tickets to BKBDay in your city
  • BKBDay 10 t-shirt
  • $100 BKB account credit
  • Glory, bragging rights, and all the #BKBlove

Your mission, should you choose to accept:

Step 1:

Download the template HERE

Step 2:

Try to fill the indicated space with your version or vision of 10/ten. Get as wild and creative as you want! What you do with the rest of the white space is entirely up to you. Note: Please keep the content appropriate for all audiences (i.e., no explicit language, hateful ideas, offensive imagery, etc.).

  • If you are unsure of how to work within the provided InDesign or Illustrator documents, no worries. Simply create your work at 11.5” wide x 14.25” high, aiming to have your version of 10/Ten 7.5”w x 8.5”h, centered.  If you have any questions, please reach out to us–we want everyone to be able to participate!

Step 3:

Submit your design to kelsey@brooklynboulders.com and michelle.winey@brooklynboulders.com.

Please provide your first and last name (so we can credit you!).
You can also provide an Instagram handle if you’d like (not required).

Pssst… as a reminder, although everyone’s art is sure to be awesome, we cannot guarantee your particular submission will be selected. Thanks for understanding.

Submission Deadlines:

Deadline extended until August 16 for a chance to be included in the art installation in each facility

Save the date!

Mark your calendars: For BKBDay 10 we’ll party on Friday, September 6 at BKB in Gowanus, Somerville, and Chicago. Then, on Saturday, September 7, we party in Queensbridge. See you there!
