What's included in the pre-screening process?
All staff and program participants are required to participate in a wellness check upon entering the facility. We will ask those being screened to confirm the following: adherence to travel restrictions put in place by each state, no exposure to an individual with the COVID-19 virus, confirm they have not exhibited any symptoms within 14 days.
Can my child participate in the pre-screen without me present?
We aim to get the most accurate information from your child so we would always prefer youth be accompanied by their primary care taker with the exception of Teen Academy and Beasts.
Does my child have to wear a mask?
Cloth masks (or Filtered Masks) are required for staff and participants to reduce transmission of COVID-19. Our staff will review community health guidelines with participants daily.
What are the expectations of parents + guardians?
Parents/guardians should send their climber to the facility with a clean cloth mask (we will provide a disposable one if needed). Water fountains will only be available to refill water bottles, and not for sipping. With that in mind, please send your child to the facility with a water bottle or plan to purchase one for them upon arrival. Snacks are available for purchase, but parents/guardians need to provide lunch for their climbers. Please keep us updated on health concerns and potential exposure to COVID-19.
What are the expectations of staff?
Staff will be screened daily upon arrival including a screening questionnaire and temperature check. They will wear masks for the entire duration of programming. Staff will hold a daily orientation with participants to reinforce procedures that encourage proper cough and sneeze etiquette, hand washing, and social distancing practices. Climbing etiquette will also be reviewed before each program.
How will you maintain social distancing?
We will enforce strict capacity limits at our facilities. The same staff member will be with the same group of kids throughout the day and week to reduce exposure and enable us to support contact tracing. We will also restrict interactions between groups.
What additional procedures are you following for sanitization?
Hand Sanitization stations will be placed at the entrance of facilities and wherever food or beverages are served. Loose chalk is now prohibited, and an alcohol-based liquid chalk will be used during climbing activities instead. Liquid chalk dispensers will be accessible to climbers at no cost around the facility. We have dramatically increased cleanliness and sanitization protocols, including additional cleaning crews that will continually disinfect all high touch areas using high-grade cleaning agents.
Our locations are equipped with electrostatic sprayers as well. This touchless electrostatic technology allows disinfectant to wrap around surfaces and objects, providing more effective coverage than traditional spray bottles, buckets, and rags.
What happens if my child is exposed to COVID-19?
In the event of exposure at a Brooklyn Boulders facility, our team will reach out to families to inform them of potential exposure. If there was exposure within your child’s small group by another participant or staff member – everyone would be requested to self-quarantine at home for 14 days. In that case, your session would be cancelled and a credit will be issued to your account.
Youth Terms + Conditions
Brooklyn Boulders promotes the teaching of personal and social skills that emphasize caring, respect, responsibility, communication, and reflection. Team members will work with children to help them adjust to the programming. Parents will be informed of their child’s behavior should it be continuously disruptive to the class or program atmosphere. If the child’s behavior becomes disruptive or continues to seriously disrupt the program, temporary or permanent removal from the class or program will be considered.
In the case of physical or verbal violence, the parents will be notified to take the child home. A decision to remove a child from the program is taken on a case-by-case basis.
Brooklyn Boulders reserves the right to remove students from programs for disruptive behavior of either the child or parent, and for unpaid programming. No refunds will be made for any child removed from programming under these conditions.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, it is of paramount importance that our participants demonstrate proper behavior given health concerns. We are striving to do all we can to follow CDC guidelines, and that requires the cooperation of everyone involved. Participants who are not following our instructions, particularly in regards to physical distancing, wearing a mask and touching, will be separated from the group and asked to be picked up. This is to support the health and safety of all involved, and we appreciate your understanding.
LATE PICK-UP POLICY FOR ALL YOUTH PROGRAMMING: Applies for any situation where a parent or legal guardian is more than 30 minutes late picking up their child or children. There will be a charge equivalent to one Kids Academy class per child for any situations as described above. Charges are at the discretion of the Youth Programs Manager.
Due to extenuating circumstances that might be created in these uncertain times, we are updating our cancellation policy. Please note that, in accordance with our Health Declaration, if you or your child are showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, have been in close proximity to someone showing symptoms, have recently traveled to a surging state or have been asked to quarantine by another agency or institution, your child will not be permitted into the facility. If this situation arises outside the parameters of our cancellation policy, please contact your Youth Department and we will work with you to accommodate the situation.
- Cancellations up to one week prior will receive a full refund
- Cancellations made 1-7 days out from the start of the program will receive a credit for the full value of the program, retained on their account for later use
- Please note that cancellations made less than 24 hours out from the start of a program will not be refunded or receive credit
Brooklyn Boulders reserves the right to cancel the program if the minimum enrollment is not reached with a refund of the entire program fee.
