Fitness and Training: Am I Doing This Right?
Jan 10, 2018
The age old question we all ask ourselves when beginning a journey. This is especially true when we decide to embark on a journey towards better health. With endless resources and conflicting information on fitness and personal training, how does one wade through the sea to find what’s right for them?
A lot of people fall into the trap of flashy fitness trends looking for an easy way. If you haven’t learned already, nothing worth having comes easy. This is something I learned immediately with climbing. It’s a sport that requires consistency and for me to step out of my comfort zone if I want to grow. That takes courage and a level of self awareness we only begin to awaken when we ask ourselves “Am I doing this right?”
Personal training has been a game changer when it comes to seeking the answer to this question. Imagine an experienced, knowledgeable professional dedicated to helping you figure out if you’re doing it right. We are out there, I am one of them.
For me, the sole purpose of my profession has and will always be injury prevention. I base every session, curriculum, and program design off of that golden rule. It takes trust to execute what some clients thought to be an impossible thing. I build that trust by showing them they are capable of more than they ever imagined because we are a team. They no longer have to second guess if the resistance or form is correct because I am there. Watching for any humeral glide or slight deviation.
The thing about being a personal trainer (and having one) is that it is a privilege. In my effort to make personal training more accessible, I created a small group training program where 5 clients share the cost of hiring a trainer. That’s really the passion that drives the work I do in the Beast Box at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville. Because everyone should have the chance to pursue their best self.
If you’re seeking better health and have the motivation to ask yourself “Am I doing this right?” please take a look at the personal training offerings available at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville. My team and I would absolutely be honored to help you find that answer.
