FIT TIP: Finding rest with Matt De Spain

Jan 20, 2016Brooklyn Boulders

Listen to your body. If it says you need to take a day off, take a day off.

Sometimes it is believed that the harder and more frequently we workout, the better the results. However, when one stops making progress or plateaus, overtraining can be the culprit. Recovery among athletes is an extremely important aspect of progression and not giving yourself proper rest can be detrimental to performance. Train hard, eat well, and take time to let yourself recuperate … your body and mind will thank you!

FIT TIP is a weekly blog series in which members of our Personal Training and Yoga teams provide tips to help you improve your fitness routine.

Matt De Spain is a Certified Personal Trainer at Brooklyn Boulders Chicago.
