YOUTH PROGRAMS – BKBEASTS

The BKBeasts train in two consecutive twelve-week seasons: American Bouldering Series Fall Season (ABS) and Sport Climbing Series Spring Season (SCS).

From beginners to National Champions in training, The BKBeasts Climbing Team is a program created specifically for young climbers who want to progress while training in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. The team is split into small groups according to skill level, providing personal attention and a tailored experience for each individual.

  • Four sections with 1:5 or 1:3 coach to climber ratio

American Bouldering Series Fall Season

  • Bouldering
  • September to December (12 weeks of training and local competition)
  • ABS National Championships for qualifying competitors in February

Sport Climbing Series Spring Season (SCS)

  • Tope rope and sport climbing
  • February to May (12 weeks of training and local competition)
  • SCS National Championships for qualifying competitors in July

THE TEAMS

Beasts 101

Ages 8–11

The Beasts 101 program is all about making friends and learning new skills through climbing, games and fun. Beasts will also receive a slow introduction of training elements to keep them excited and engaged as they grow as climbers. This program provides everything needed to get on the path to National Championships or a lifetime of recreational climbing. Open to climbers ages 7-10, the 101 team is coached at a 1:5 coach-to-climber ratio and practices 1x/week.

  • Ages 7–10
  • Non-competitive team
  • Practice Mondays 4:30 PM–6:30 PM for 12 weeks
  • Full membership for the season

JUNIOR COMPETITIVE

Ages 8 – 18

The Junior Competitive Team is reserved for young climbers with a strong competitive desire and a high level of climbing ability. The training program focuses not only on developing physical strength, mental strength, and technical proficiency, but also on mastering competition formats and the subtle nuances of climbing movement. The Junior Competitive team is coached at a 1:3 coach-to-climber ratio, and practices 3/x a week.

Team Information:

  • Ages 8-18
  • Full gym membership for the season
  • Post-season coaching for Regionals, Divisionals and Nationals *if competitors qualify*
  • 1:3 coach to climber ratio – specialized coaching based on your climbers long and short term goals.

Requirements:

  • Bouldering – Onsite V3/Redpoint V4 +
  • Rope Climbing – Onsite 5.10/ Redpoint 5.11 +
  • Must climb 1+ days outside of sanctioned BKBeast practice/training.
  • Have a commitment to year round climbing and physical fitness.
  • Have a high proficiency of technical movement. Exhibit a high level of technical movement and understanding on the climbing wall.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to adhere to BKBeast’s Behavioral Standard on and off the wall
  • Have a desire to compete at the local, regional and divisional level.
